The Clinton County & 4-H Fair Queen Contest will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday in the 4-H Building at the Clinton County Fairgrounds.
“We have nine contestants this year and that’s as many contestants as we’ve had in a long time,” said Clinton County Fair Council Chairman Jamie Blacker after Wednesday night’s meeting. “We’re real excited about that.”
The queen and her court will be named that night and will preside over the fair which runs July 7-15.
The Fair Council also announced that no applications will be needed for this year’s parade, which will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 8.
“We’re asking people to line up after 1 o’clock near the library on Clinton Street and line up on that street back to the west,” said Blacker. “Nancy Elsea will be the contact that day.”
Elsea said the line up will begin at 1:30 p.m. and the parade will step off at 2 p.m. The parade will start at the library, go around the square, come up Jackson Street and enter the Fairgrounds. The parade will be broadcast on WILO Radio and WILO TV.
Blacker added there will be free parking and free admission to this year’s fair.
