No Injuries Reported in Fire on Meredith Street

The Frankfort Fire Department was dispatched to a possible structure fire at East Meredith Street at approximately 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.  During this dispatch Battalion 1, Engine 1 and Squad 1 were on the scene of a motor vehicle accident on I-65 at the 151 mile marker with possible entrapment.

Engine 2 and Engine 3 were first arriving units on the scene of East Meredith Street and reported smoke and flames visible from the southeast portion of the structure. Engine 2 arrived and established Meredith Street command, Engine 3 arrived seconds later and fire ground operations were started with four firefighters due to all other personnel being on scene of the motor vehicle accident on I-65.

Chief 102 arrived on the scene and assumed Meredith Street Command and fire attack was in progress.  Meredith Street Command advised Central Dispatch to recall four personnel to cover the City while on duty personnel were handling two incidents. Chief 101 arrived on scene with another firefighter and assisted with fire suppression.  Battalion 1, Engine 1 and Squad 1 arrived later and assisted crews with overhaul operations.

No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported to firefighters.

The fire is under investigation by an investigator with the Frankfort Fire Department and more information will be available when the investigation is complete.

Fire Chief John Kirby said that firefighters had to adapt with two incidents going on at the same time and did an outstanding job and worked together to handle both incidents.  I cannot say enough about our firefighter’s hard work and ability to get the job done.
