Inside INdiana Business is reporting the developer behind a proposed $24.3 million mixed-use project in Noblesville says it could help spur additional investment in the city’s downtown. Plans for The Levinson include more than 80 studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, commercial space and a large lobby that will showcase the Hamilton County city’s history. Fishers-based Rebar Development President Shelby Bowen says the development will serve as a key talent attraction and retention piece in the growing community.
In an interview with Inside INdiana Business, Bowen said The Levinson will have a positive economic impact. “I think you’ll see there are a lot of great opportunities in and around downtown Noblesville for other similar projects,” Bowen said. “I just think this is really like a domino to some additional growth there.”
Mayor John Ditslear says The Levinson will be the first downtown apartment building that’s gone up in more than a century. “”It will help bring urban density to our square to support our local businesses, restaurants and shops,” he said. “Not only will it add to the local landmarks in our city, but it will attract additional downtown development interest and set a high bar for quality.”
Additional components of the project include the first parking garage in the city’s downtown, a feature Bowen believes will be attractive to other potential developments, and 10 affordably-priced units that can help serve as workforce housing. In a new release issued by the city, Bowen added “The Levinson will attract and retain millennials, empty-nesters, high-earning and workforce professionals to downtown – serving as an economic driver for Noblesville restaurants and businesses.”
The plans will be presented Tuesday to the Noblesville Common Council. If approved, construction could begin in March. Plans call for the garage to be finished in January 2020 and the apartments could open that fall. You can connect to more about The Levinson by clicking here.
