NWS Confirms Tornado In Clinton County (Photo Gallery)

The National Weather Service is expected later today to confirm it was a tornado that moved through Colfax, Frankfort and Clinton County. Emergency Management and Fire Department officials have told WILO and CCDN officials have been touring the storm damaged area this morning.

Please be careful as you are out today and stay away from any crews that are working. This was particularly dangerous because it came through just shortly before 11 pm last night with little notification as the tornado developed quickly. Frankfort Power and Light and Duke Energy Crews worked into the night to restore power to most of the county.

Luckily  no fatalities were reported but residents had to be rescued from flattened homes near the Colfax area.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind warning until 6 pm Saturday night. Gusts could reach up to 60 miles per hour. We have shared photos from EMA and Fire officials
