NWS Issues Flood Watch For Boone County & Southern Counties From Wednesday Through Sunday Morning

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for areas surrounding Indianapolis and southern counties, including Boone County, from Wednesday through Sunday morning as excessive rainfall may be possible.

The service stated that excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations in the designated areas. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible.

Heavy rainfall is possible from late Wednesday through Saturday night, and flash flooding is possible Wednesday night into Thursday with significant river flooding potentially developing late into the weekend.

Community members are encouraged to monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings in the area, and those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. Those traveling through the area should also take precautions due to the possibility of flooding roads.
