O.C. “Pete” James

O.C. “Pete” James, 88, of Flora, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020 at his home.  He was born in Franklin Co., Alabama on January 3, 1932 to Earl and Lolo (Adams) James.  He married Betty Tyra on October 25, 1952 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas; she preceded him in death on January 11, 2020.

Pete worked as a carpenter and in maintenance.  He was a member of Valley View Baptist Church.  He had a passion for gardening and enjoyed cooking, fishing, and hunting.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Pete is survived by his children, Peggy Sue Anthony of Missouri and David O.C. James of Flora; his sister, Vert Pinkard of Alabama; his brother, Leo James of Missouri; seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Vickie; and two sisters, Mildred Pinkard and Shirley Hanson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 27 from 10 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel with Ted Lucas officiating.  The funeral service will be live-streamed and may be viewed at www.gendafuneralhome.com.  Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora.

In adherence to the current CDC guidelines, it is requested that guests follow the appropriate social distancing and the wearing of masks.
