Off Duty Trooper Arrest Man Driving Drunk at Little League Park

Recently, Indiana State Police Sergeant T.J. Zeiser arrested Daniel Amonett, 23, Greentown, for driving while intoxicated, resisting law enforcement, public intoxication, and failure to identify. Amonett was incarcerated in the Miami County Jail.

Tuesday at approximately 8:31 p.m., Sergeant Zeiser was off duty, at the Bunker Hill Little League Park, watching one of the multiple baseball games that was being played. Zeiser heard the revving of an engine in a Honda passenger car. He then allegedly observed the Honda, driven by Amonett, travel through the little league parking lot at approximately 35 to 40 miles per hour. Amonett eventually parked the Honda in the northwest corner of the little league parking lot.

Zeiser, officials from the little league, and a Miami County Sheriff’s deputy approached the Honda. Zeiser identified himself as a state police officer. An apparently intoxicated Amonett was purportedly belligerent and allegedly refused to provide identification. He also had to be forcibly removed from the Honda. Zeiser allegedly observed a bottle of vodka and beer in the car.

Further investigation revealed, as Amonett was driving through the little league parking lot he purportedly almost hit an elementary age girl who was walking through the lot.

Due to Amonett’ s high level of impairment, he was transported to Duke’s Memorial Hospital to be medically cleared before he could be transported to jail. He was evaluated and eventually incarcerated in the Miami County Jail.
