Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an Off-Road Vehicle crash involving injury that occurred Monday evening.
At approximately 6:28 p.m., Conservation Officers and other first responders were dispatched to the area of Main Street and Albert S White Drive in Whitestown for an ORV crash.
Brian Romano, 35, of Whitestown was operating a Yamaha Raptor 700 on Albert S. White Drive when he lost control of the ORV. It was determined that he was traveling at about 40 mph when he was thrown approximately 25 feet from the machine. He sustained a broken femur during the incident but was wearing a helmet which prevented further injury on impact.
Whitestown EMS transported Romano via ambulance to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis for medical treatment.
Conservation Officers want to stress the importance of helmets and safe operation when riding an Off-Road Vehicle.
Kingman Man Killed in Saturday ORV Accident
Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an Off Road Vehicle crash that resulted in the fatality of a Kingman man Saturday evening.
At approximately 5:39 p.m., Indiana Conservation Officers and other first responders were dispatched to the 4000 Block South on Tangier Rd in Kingman for an ORV crash involving injury.
David Newnum, 60, of Kingman was operating a Polaris Sportsman 700 four-wheeler at a higher rate of speed in his yard when he lost control of the machine. The ORV rolled over pinning Newnum underneath. Family members located Newnum approximately 20 minutes later and called Fountain County 911.
First responders arrive d on scene where Newnum was pronounced deceased. He was not wearing a helmet or any other safety equipment at the time of the crash. Alcohol and excessive speed are believed to be the primary factors in the incident.
