One of Boone County’s favorite summer traditions returned to downtown Colfax August 1–2 as the Ole Hickory Days Festival brought together families, friends, and visitors for a weekend filled with entertainment, food, and hometown memories.
This year’s festival theme, “A Stroll Down Memory Lane,” celebrated the history and traditions that have made Ole Hickory Days a community favorite for generations.
A highlight of the weekend was the crowning of the 2026 Ole Hickory Days royalty. Emersyn Stambaugh, 6, daughter of Eliza and Nathan Stambaugh, was named Miss Hickory, while Reylan Winger, 5, was named Mr. Hickory.
The festival also recognized Lil’ Tot Emmett Stambaugh, 2, son of Eliza and Nathan Stambaugh, as part of this year’s festivities.
Community members were also recognized for their talents and contributions. Kimmy Glass was honored as the Best Dancer, showcasing her talent and bringing energy to the celebration. Trina Corbett received the Service Award for her dedication and commitment to the Colfax community.
Haynes Remodeling was awarded Best Float for its creative and festive entry in the parade, adding to the excitement of the weekend celebration.
Throughout the weekend, festivalgoers enjoyed activities for all ages, including live entertainment, local food vendors, family activities, and opportunities to reconnect with neighbors and celebrate Colfax’s community spirit.
