One Airlifted from Three Vehicle Crash on I-65

At approximately 9:45 p.m. Monday on I-65 northbound near the 159 mile marker (that is one mile north of the SR 28/158 exit), a dump truck rear ends vehicles stopped for road construction causing one passenger to be air lifted from the scene.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Jeremy Piers has revealed that a 2017 Mack dump truck was northbound when the driver, Ryan Watson, 25 of Indianapolis failed to slow for traffic that was stopped for the construction work. He allegedly rear ended a gray 2015 Jeep SUV driven by Bozena Chaboki, 47 of Lemont, IL. The truck pushed that vehicle into the left lane and continued on hitting a white 2014 GMC SUV driven by Amy Arnold, 50 of Lafayette, pushing it into the right lane.

The driver of the truck was not injured nor were Arnold or her passenger. The juvenile passenger from the Jeep was air lifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. The driver was transported by ambulance to IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette with what also appeared to be non- life threatening injuries.

All occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The investigation continues and no citations were issued at this time.
