At approximately 5:05 p.m. Saturday, officers from the Indiana State Police, the Miami County Sheriff’s Department, and the Peru Police Department responded to a two vehicle crash near 1327 East Miami County Road 400 North, in which a Mexico, IN man died.
The preliminary crash investigation by Trooper Andrew Smith revealed Nathan Stuber, 34, Mexico, IN, was driving a 2015 Ford Fusion eastbound on County Road 400 North. Sarah Winters, 32, Denver, IN was driving 2015 Chrysler 200C westbound on County Road 400 North. The two vehicles approached a hillcrest near 1327 East County Road 400 North and had a sideswipe, opposite direction, collision. Nathan Stuber and his front seat passenger, Ashley Stuber, 32, Mexico, IN were ejected from the Ford.
Nathan Stuber was pronounced dead at the crash scene. Ashley Stuber was flown from the crash scene, via medical helicopter, to Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne. Her injuries are unknown. There were also two juvenile passengers in the Ford, ages nine and four. They were also flown to Lutheran Hospital with unknown injuries.
Winters was also flown, via medical helicopter, to Lutheran Hospital with unknown injuries. Winters had two juvenile passengers, ages 10 and eight, who were transported by ambulance to Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru. Their injuries are unknown.
