One Injured in Off-Road Vehicle Crash in Romney

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an Off-Road Recreational Vehicle (ORV) crash involving injury. On Monday March 12, 2018 at approximately 8:00 pm, Conservation Officers and other first responders were dispatched to the 11000 block S US 231 for an ORV crash involving injury.

Leighton Fruits, 23, of Stockwell was operating a Honda dirt bike in a parking lot when he hit a patch of gravel, lost control of the bike and hit a tree stump. Fruits was thrown from the bike and sustained a broken shoulder and concussion in the crash. Fruits was not wearing a helmet or any other safety gear at the time.

Fruits was transported via ambulance to IU Arnett Hospital to be treated for his injuries. Conservation Officers want to stress the importance of wearing helmets and other safety gear when riding off road vehicles. For more ORV safety information visit http://www.in.gov/dnr/lawenfor/9464.htm.
