Optimists Offer Two Contests for Scholarships

Area youth can earn scholarships and awards in the Optimist Club’s Essay and Oratorical Contests. Both contests are open to youth under the age of 19 as of October 1, 2018. There is no minimum age for either contest.

The Essay Contest topic is “When All the World’s Problems are Solved, is Optimism Still Necessary?”. Essays must be 700-800 words in length. Entries plus application forms are due by February 25.

The topic for the Oratorical Contest is “Is There a Fine Line Between Optimism and Reality?”. Speeches must be 4-5 minutes in length. Entries plus application forms are due by March 4. The Frankfort Optimist Club contest date is March 10, 2019 for presentation of speeches.

Club winners for both contests win cash prizes and advance to the District contest to compete for $2,500 scholarships. Contest details, complete contest rules, and application forms are available by calling 765-659-2919.
