Two individuals pled not guilty Friday in their initial hearing on drug charges in Clinton County Circuit Court. Both Juanita Cotton and Bass Smith entered their pleas and have a trial date set for September 25.
Cotton is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, a Level 5 Felony; Possession of a Narcotic Drug, a Level 5 Felony; Unlawful Possession of a Syringe, a Level 6 Felony; and Visiting a Common Nuisance — Controlled Substances, a Class B Misdemeanor.
Smith is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, a Level 5 Felony; Possession of a Narcotic Drug, a Level 5 Felony; Unlawful Possession of a Syringe, a Level 6 Felony; and Maintaining a Common Nuisance — Controlled Substances, a Level 6 Felony.
In another case, Jacob Pickett pleaded guilty to theft, which is a Class A Misdemeanor. He was sentenced to one year in jail.
Pickett pled guilty to theft of a woman’s purse at Wendy’s out of desperation due to drug addiction.
