Pastor Alan “Bud” Moody, 84, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, May 11, 2022, at his home in Frankfort, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 2, 1937, in Clinton County, Indiana; a son of the late George W. and Marie (Coffman) Moody.
On March 17, 1956, he was united in marriage to Jewel F. (Fairfield) Moody at Sugar Plain Church in Thorntown. She survives.
Bud was a 1956 graduate of Thorntown High School and Moody Bible College. He served 45 years in the ministry for many churches, including Thorntown Baptist and Walnut Grove in Thorntown. He was a member of Souls’ Harbor Church in Frankfort.
He was a devoted, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and pastor. Bud had many hobbies. He enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and hunting-many stories shared through the years. He and Jewel were blessed to have traveled all 48 continental states and numerous countries together. One of Bud’s favorite experiences was a trip to Israel. This had been a dream of his to see where his Lord lived and ministered. Bud had a friendly and outgoing personality, who was well known in the community. He was loved by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Jewel Moody of Frankfort; four children and ten grandchildren: Dennis (Mala) Moody of Terre Haute and their children, Charity (Dennis) Henico, Andrew (Tricia) Moody, Matthew (Whitney) Moody; Steve Moody of Thorntown and his children, Nathan Moody and Noel Maxwell; Gary (Angie) Moody of Thorntown and their son, Jordan (Ali) Moody; Sharon (Larry) Gibson of Frankfort and their children, David (Amanda) Gibson, Larry (Angie) Gibson, Cory (José) Campos and Nick Gibson; thirty great grandchildren; one sister, Betty (Joe) Walker of Clearwater, Florida along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by a brother, George Lavon Moody.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.
Funeral Services are planned for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022, with additional visitation one hour prior at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown, Indiana.
