Patricia J. “Pat” Rolfs, 76, of Flora, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Wellbrooke of Kokomo. She was born November 6, 1941, in Corvallis, Oregon, to Mervin Harley and Iva Jane (Holl) Hoover.
Pat graduated from West High School in Denver, CO, and later received her bachelor’s degree from McPherson College and master’s degree from IUK. From 1978 to her retirement in 2004, Pat taught speech and English at Carroll High School. She was a member, deacon, and board member of Living Faith Church of the Brethren where she also sang in the choir, attended Women’s Fellowship, and lead Sunday school and adult Bible study classes. Pat loved participating in the Brethren Way of Christ and attending Women’s Camp at Camp Mack. Her other memberships included Alpha Delta Kappa, Flora Library Board, Red Hat Society, and Psi Iota Xi; she sponsored World Vision Children and volunteered with both Meals on Wheels and the Buddy Bag Program. Pat enjoyed water aerobics, reading, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Pat enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Alaska, Scotland, and Ireland; she looked forward to her annual pilgrimage to the Oregon Coast.
Surviving are her children, Susan (Phil) Brown, of Converse, Steven (Sandy) Rolfs, of Hoagland, Jeffrey (Gina) Rolfs, of Rochester Hills, MI, and Heidi (Eric) Vance, of Kokomo; grandchildren, Rebekah (David) Haynes, Sarah Brown, Lydia (Robert) Horner, Hannah (Abram) Rodrigues, Jenn (Ryan) Knepper, Natalie Rolfs, Gabby Rolfs, Andrew Rolfs, Alex Cincoski, Spencer Vance, Kaity Vance, Emma Vance, and Aidan Vance; great-granddaughters, Scarlett and Ellie Grace; sister, Judy (Tom) Gillam, of Flora; niece, Anna (J.R.) Rogers; and partner in crime, Marsha Eckert.
In addition to her parents, Pat is preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua, and two angel grandbabies.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Living Faith Church of the Brethren from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and also one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday. Funeral service to honor Pat will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at the church with Pastor Jeff Thomson officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery. Memorials in Pat’s name may be made to Living Faith Church of the Brethren.
