Patty E. Bright, 76, lifelong Rossville resident, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2022, at Mulberry Health & Rehabilitation.
Patty was born October 12, 1945, in Lafayette, to Fred Wesley and Glee Ruby (Smith) Gochenour, and was a 1963 Rossville High School graduate and a 1993 graduate of Purdue University in OLS. She married Ben “Doc” Bright on January 18, 1997, and he preceded her in death on March 12, 2014.
Patty worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 23 years. After retiring, she volunteered at IU Arnett Hospital. Patty attended Faith Church. She enjoyed all things Purdue, puzzles, reading, and was a Master Gardener.
Surviving Patty are her children, Brian (Ann) Leazenby of Rossville and Lori (Jeff) Need of Lafayette; grandchildren, Rachel (Brandon) Boyer, Brady (Brittany) Need, Chase (Erica) Riley, and Jessica (John) Howell; great-grandchildren, Kohen, Ivy, Wyatt, Weston and Gwen; sister, Nancy (Buzz) Disinger; sister-in-law, Suzie (Wilmer) Good; and several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Dan, Jack, Mack and Wayne Gochenour; and sisters, Betty Moss, Audrey Ruch, Marjorie Cornwell, and Mary Lowery.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 10am to the beginning of the funeral service at 1pm at Genda Funeral Home ~ Rossville Chapel. Pastor Trey Garner will be officiating, and burial will follow in Rossville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Church.
