Paul E. DeLaCroix, 72, of Frankfort, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at his home in Frankfort. He was born on June 05, 1954, in South Bend to John and Victoria Jane (Horne) DeLaCroix. He married Marcia Schimmel on July 3, 1976, and she survives.
Paul was a graduate of Frankfort Senior High, class of 1972. He then earned his associate’s degree from Vincennes University in 1976. Paul worked as a carpenter for Local Union #215, where he worked most of his career at Gill Construction and Kettelhut Construction. Along with being a member of the Carpenter’s Union, he was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church and Boy Scout Troop 338, where he served as a Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster for many years. Being an Eagle Scout himself, Paul, took great pride in helping young men become the best version of themselves and learn important life skills through scouting.
Paul enjoyed camping, woodworking, and “piddling around” doing little odds and ends projects. And little brought him more joy than spending time with his family, especially watching his grandson play baseball and making memories with his grandkids. Paul was a strong presence and was always there to hold people accountable to do the right thing and paired with his smile and gentle words of encouragement, brought out the best in people.
Along with his wife of 50 years, Paul is survived by his children, Ryan DeLaCroix, Todd (Laura) DeLaCroix, and Kimberly (Brandon) Caldwell; brothers, Wayne and David (Karen) DeLaCroix; mother-in-law, Carolyne Schimmel; grandchildren, Chance, Kyleigh, and Koltyn; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Harold Schimmel.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 1-4pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Funeral service will be held Monday, August 3 at 10am at the funeral home. Pastor Darin Hendrey will officiate with burial following at Whiteman Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop 338 at St. Matthew.
