Paul R. Dickerson

Mr. Paul Russell Dickerson, 96, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Autumn Trace Senior Living in Lebanon. He was born January 15, 1928, in Lebanon, Indiana, a son of the late Russell Francis and Bessie Edith (Cook) Dickerson.

Paul graduated from Lebanon High School in 1946.

He was a life resident of Boone County with the exception of his time spent while in the United States Army during the Korean War. He served his country honorably from 1951–1960. During his time in service, Paul attained many awards including Sharpshooter Medal, Germany Occupation Ribbon, Remagen Bridge Medal, Korean Appreciation Medal, Korean Freedom Medal and the Korean Peace Ribbon.

Paul was employed at Metzger Lumber Company for 44 years, AJ Jarman Company for three years, Riley Tire & Chem for one year, and Sheraton Hotel for seven years.

Paul was a member of the American Legion in Lebanon, National Association of Accountants, Indiana Taxpayers Association, and National Association of Tax Preparers. He held many offices locally such as the Vice Chairman of the Boone County Veterans Memorial Committee, Indiana State Vice Commander, and the Korean’s War Veterans Association.

In his free time, Paul found playing golf and collecting antiques, such as beer steins and shaving mugs, his passions. He was a devoted sibling and uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews including, Martha (Dale) Lane, Terry R. (Sharon) Dickerson, Mary Nieman, Denny (Teresa) Dickerson, Gary (Pam) Dickerson and Sandy Kirk.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his brothers, Fay T. Dickerson and Howard F. Dickerson; sisters, Naomi May Osborne and Marthella E. Nieman; nephews, Rex Dickerson, Stanley Dickerson, Mike Dickerson, Dana Dickerson, Francis Nieman, Ron Nieman, Paul Nieman and Gerald Osborne; and niece, Jean Fields.

Funeral Services with Military Rites are planned for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.

Memorials may be directed in Paul’s memory to the Korean War Veterans Association, Chapter 259, 8 Jackson Court, Brownsburg, Indiana 46112-1684.
