Peggy McCarty Kloenne, 74, of Calvert City, Kentucky, formerly of Frankfort, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at her daughter’s residence.
Peggy was born on August 21, 1949, in Evansville, Indiana, to the late William McCarty and Ruby Jean (Frailley) McCarty. She loved working with children and spent many years teaching high school in Indiana. Peggy was a very active member of St. Mathew United Methodist Church, serving as a board member and teaching her preschool class at the church. One of Peggy’s favorite jobs was working as the children’s librarian for the Frankfort Public Library, where she also served on the board. She also spent many years as a Frankfort Lion’s Club member. Peggy loved reading and traveling, but more than anything else, she loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her three daughters, Amanda Bakemeyer (Jason) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Sarah Bratcher (Rob) of Calvert City, Kentucky, and Leigh Schrier (Bob) of Avon, Indiana; two brothers, Terry McCarty (Jeanie) and Gary McCarty both of Evansville, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Megan Schrier, Drew Schrier, Ashlynn Bakemeyer, Addison Bakemeyer, Cole Bakemeyer, William Bratcher, Callie Bratcher, and Joshua Bratcher; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Kloenne; one granddaughter, Ella Bakemeyer; and her parents, William McCarty and Ruby Jean Frailley McCarty.
Memorial visitation will be held, Friday, February 23, 2024 from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Kilmore Cemetery.
