It took quite a long time for Phase Two of the Southridge Subdivision to come to fruition as a group of city officials gathered Tuesday morning at the end of the current subdivision to official set sail on 30 more homes in the subdivision.
“This is a real blessing because this has been something that’s been going on for a long time,” said Clinton County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Shan Sheridan. “Phase One started in ’95 and this is Phase Two in 2020. So that’s been a good ways down the road.
“We’re very excited and we’re thankful that this is happening and the shovels are in the ground,” Sheridan added. “We’re going to see 30 new homes built.”
Another nugget of information about these homes is that they will be “affordable” with the price tag being between $150,000 to just under $200,000.
“One of our biggest needs is housing and just to have good quality housing and it’s also affordable,” said Sheridan. “It’s not going to break the bank. It’s going to get people and families into a new three bedroom, 1,500 to 1,600 square foot home. It’s such a blessing to be able to offer this.”
F&K Construction out of Flora are the contractors for the project which is being named Wildcat, LLC.
Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets echoed Sheridan’s sentiments about the subdivision.
“I’m so excited for Frankfort and I just want to thank everyone that believed in Frankfort that made this come about,” said Sheets. “It’s going to be a great addition to the City of Frankfort. We need housing badly right now. It will be affordable housing and I think that’s what’s really important right now. It’s going to be a great subdivision for us.”
Sheridan said these new homes will make it 66 homes for the subdivision with Phase Three coming sometime in the future. Sheridan said the next subdivision should be Phase Two of the Meadowbrook Subdivision.
