Philip “Phil” Gordon Wessel, Sr.

Philip “Phil” Gordon Wessel, Sr., 74, Frankfort, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis.  He was born November 16, 1948, in Frankfort to Arthur and Veca (Camp) Wessell.  He married Sandra “Sandy” Boothroyd on July 7, 1992, and she survives.

Phil served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  Phil worked at Federal Mogul for 32 years until he retired in 2010.  He was a lifetime member of the DAV and the UAW.  Phil was a fun-loving man with a great sense of humor and a love of life.  He enjoyed being outdoors, swimming, fishing, camping, having cookouts, and cooking the Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for the family.  He was an animal lover and cared deeply for his dogs, but his biggest passion was his family, whom he loved dearly and loved making memories and spending time with.

Along with his wife of 31 years, Phil is survived by his children, Brandan Wessel, Jessica (Wessel) Hackett, Phil Wessel, Jr., Joey (Sheena) Boothroyd, Sebert (Vanessa) Swimm; 19 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Billy Boothroyd, Jr.; 13 siblings; and three dogs, Angel, Riley, and Diesel.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 3pm until the time of the service at 5pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort.  Pastor Paul Whitaker and Pastor Gordon Smith will officiate.  Military Rites will be performed by the Clinton County Honor Guard.  Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
