The Frankfort Community Public Library is pleased to announce the recipient of the Derrick/Fullerton Volunteer of the Year Award. Congratulations to Phoebe Smith, Volunteer of the Year for 2019!
The Friends of the Frankfort Library made the announcement at their virtual annual meeting held on June 17.
Phoebe served nearly seven years as a Trustee on the Frankfort Community Public Library Board, and as a retired librarian and her other interests in gardening and the arts, it was beneficial to have her expertise in a variety of areas. Phoebe has been an active member of the Frankfort Garden Club for many years, which in turn helps support the Library gardens and related programs. In addition to gardening, you can always count on Phoebe to help in some capacity with the Friends Annual Art Show. During art show week, she is busy with assisting garden club with their displays and sales, preparing reception food, checking in artists, in addition to spending a Friday night at the bustling sales table.
Phoebe is a devoted supporter of our Library, and you can usually find her frequently checking out books at the Circulation Desk. She always takes the time to listen to anything you might have going on as far as a Library program or special project. She has a calming, but strong presence that is appreciated by staff. Congratulations, Phoebe, and thank you for all of your time and support!
The Derrick/Fullerton Volunteer of the Year Award is named for its first recipients, Marj Derrick and Nancy Fullerton. Since 2003, employees have nominated the person or persons who they feel have assisted the Library staff in an exceptional manner by giving of their time and talents.
