Phyllis Jean Imel, 92, of Rural Route 6, Frankfort, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 in her home. She was born on November 23, 1932 in Frankfort to Walter Morton and Bethel L. (Haslet) Dobson. She married Ralph E. Imel on March 20, 1955 and he preceded her in death on January 9, 2020.
Phyllis was a 1950 graduate of Jefferson High School. She worked as Secretary at the State House Annex in Indianapolis, Fort Harrison, and then at the Internal Revenue Service in Lafayette. She formerly attended church in Jefferson, Indiana and also attended and played the piano at Manson Congregational Christian Church. She was a member of the Boyleston Baptist Church where she was also pianist. Phyllis was “small but mighty”, operating all the farm machinery and working with the livestock along side her husband and son.
She is survived by her daughter: Beth Imel of Darlington and her daughter-in-law: Tina Imel Shaffner of Frankfort. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Brian Scott Imel, and her sisters: Barbara A Larson and Martha E. Enlow.
Friends may visit 1 – 2 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. A graveside service with Rev. Bruce White officiating will follow in Kilmore Cemetery, Rural Frankfort.
