Police Establish Dedicated Drug Investigation Unit

Led by veteran Detective Captain Bill Hackerd, Frankfort Police will establish a dedicated drug investigation division April 16 to exclusively investigate illegal drugs and narcotics within the City.
According to Police Chief Troy Bacon, a blueprint for the new division has been in the works for approximately two years.
“Now that we’ve successfully tackled the challenges of staffing levels, patrol shift schedules and turnover, we can implement this new and much needed division,” Bacon said.
Since 2012 Police Department staff have added two police narcotics canine units, established a crime/drug tip line, sent officers and detectives to drug surveillance and interdiction schools, developed an overdose investigation protocol and established the Clinton County Drug Task Force by partnering with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.
“Establishing a division dedicated to investigating, enforcing, and deterring drugs in the City of Frankfort is one more example of our commitment to protecting and serving our community,” Bacon said. “I am confident the new drug division will strengthen our drug enforcement investigations and cause dealers to think twice before bringing poison into our community.”
The new drug investigation unit will be staffed by two full-time, experienced narcotics detectives.
