Frankfort Billing Office Manager Stacy Uitts released the following information Thursday afternoon regarding a possible utility payment scam in the City of Frankfort.
According to her release, there have been reports of customers receiving a phone call stating, if they do not pay with at the time of the call their power will be shut off within 45 minutes. Frankfort Municipal Utilities will not call to inform customers of their disconnect nor demand payment on the phone.
Customers are notified through the mail of their disconnect date. If customers have any questions about their utilities being disconnected and are receiving these calls, please call the billing office at 765-659-3361 before taking further action.
