Prairie Creek Park Becoming Downtown Gem: 10 Photos

Prairie Creek Park in downtown Frankfort is certain to redefine the downtown space.  It is one thing to see Prairie Creek Park on paper in a drawing.  Inspecting the space near completion is to see a game-changer for downtown Frankfort that has the ability to be a regional draw for concerts and events.

It is easy to imagine talent shows performed on stage by area youth or to envision children laughing and playing in the water park splash pad on the east side of the park.  Clubs, families, festival attendees, concert goers and organizations will gather in the dining and serving areas before or after the performance and rest in one of the inviting swings and enjoy outdoor lighting and lingering conversations after sunset.

Prairie Creek Park is not open yet and probably no events will be scheduled for the space until next year, according to Mayor Judy Sheets.  The Farmers Bank stage area still needs parts of the “ceiling” over the stage.  The checklist of unfinished items, though, is obviously getting smaller by the day.

Clinton County Daily News, Boone County Daily News, Shine 99 Radio, WILO AM/FM and Hoosierland TV give you a peek at the park on a beautiful early October day.  Enjoy. We will keep you posted on plans for opening day.
