President Trump, Wife Melania Both Test Positive for Coronavirus

Metro News is reporting that President Donald Trump has tested positive for the coronavirus. The positive test came after top aide Hope Hicks was diagnosed with the disease. First Lady Melania Trump also tested positive and both are now in quarantine.

Hicks traveled with the President on more than one occasion this week. That includes Tuesday’s debate in Cleveland and a campaign rally in Minnesota. Another White House staff member had a positive diagnosis just a couple weeks ago.

The coronavirus hits older and obese Americans hard, which puts President Trump in a high risk of severe illness. The 74-year-old President announced he and his wife tested positive just after midnight Eastern time. Melania Trump is 50.

The President is at least the third world leader to test positive, joining the U.K.’s Boris Johnson and Brazil’s Jair Bolsonaro.
