Project Lit Coming to Frankfort Community Public Library

Frankfort Community Public Library is excited to announce that our Teen Department is now part of the grassroots movement, Project Lit! We are the first public library in the state of Indiana to support a Project Lit chapter.  We want all of Clinton County to join this society of readers who believe in the power of literature to transform lives.

A high school English teacher, Jared Amato, and his students created project Lit in 2016. The group began with the hope of increasing interest and access to high quality, culturally sustaining books. Project Lit has grown through partnerships with teachers and students in more than 1,000 schools across the country.  Involvement in Project Lit reading increases student’s emotional and empathetic development by introducing them to new voices and stories.

The Library Teen Department plans on hosting book clubs, discussions, and contests centered on the Project Lit reading list throughout the 2020–2021 school year. This program is not limited to teens; readers of all ages are invited to participate and join in the conversation about these great reads.

There are many ways to get involved in FCPL Teen’s Chapter.  First, follow our new Twitter account dedicated to Project Lit programming, @projectlitFCPL. Join the conversation there using the hashtags #projectLITchat, #projectLITBookClub, and #justreadit. Be sure to watch our Facebook page at FCPL Teens as well. We will share Book Talks on the Library’s YouTube channel “My FCPL” and Project Lit blogposts at www.myfcpl.org.  More information about book selections, contests, and prizes will be announced soon.
