The Indiana Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing for the State Road 26 proposed project beginning at 6 p.m. with the doors opening at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 6 at Rossville High School located at 1 Robert Egly Drive.
The purpose of the public hearing is to offer all interested persons an opportunity to comment on current design plans for proposed road rehabilitation on S.R. 26 from approximately Rossville to Russiaville. In addition, the project proposes intersection improvement at S.R. 26 and S.R. 75.
The purpose of the project is to enhance safety within the corridor and extend the usable service life of the existing roadway. Several improvements are proposed within various segments of the project area including increasing lane widths, providing roadside shoulder with portions to be paved, improving drainage, modifying and/or replacing culverts, installing rumble striping, improving sidewalk (in areas with existing sidewalk), adding a turning lane (S.R. 26 at S.R. 75) and other safety enhancements. The length of the project is approximately 15 miles.
