Public Tip Leads to Apprehension in Thefts and Arson

On July 16, at approximately 3:04 a.m. Boone County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a theft of an automobile at 1765 W. Blubaugh Ave. Thorntown, Dull’s Tree Farm and residence. The Dull’s had returned around 3:00 a.m. and found several buildings and the house had been entered. Mr. Dull reported a work vehicle, a Ford pickup truck and firearm had been taken from the property. Deputies obtained the information for the truck and firearm to enter a case report and articles as stolen.

Approximately one hour later a fire was reported at 1003 E. 300 N. Lebanon, Indiana in a corn field. Upon arrival by Lebanon Fire Department, Lebanon Police Department and Boone County Sheriff’s Deputies they discovered a vehicle approximately 30 feet in the corn field and fully engulfed by fire. After the fire was extinguished the vehicle was identified as the Ford pickup truck taken from Dull’s Tree Farm. The firearm was not located at the scene after investigation by the
Lebanon Fire Chief.

On July 17, a tip from the public was received on the location of the stolen firearm and a possible suspect. The firearm was located and recovered from a house in Lebanon; however the possible suspect was not located at the time of recovery. The suspect in question was identified as a Tiffany Shull and may have participated in the residential entry, thefts and the arson of the vehicle.

On July 18, Lebanon Police Department were dispatched to a suspicious person, dancing in the street located at 111 W. Busby St. Lebanon. Upon arrival the person was identified as Tiffany Shull and that she was a possible suspect in the residential entry, theft and arson that took place on July 16th. At that time Detectives Jesse Boggs and Sam Scott form the Boone County Sheriff’s Office were notified and arrived on scene. Tiffany Shull was taken to the Sheriff’s Office for questioning. During questioning Tiffany admitted she had committed the residential entry, auto theft and arson. Tiffany was taken into custody and charged with residential entry, auto theft and arson and booked into the Boone County Jail.

Sheriff Nielsen stated “the citizens of Boone County are our best resource when it comes to helping us solve crimes, such as this one. With the citizen’s tip and a thorough investigation by our criminal investigations division, this crime was solved very quickly”
