Purdue Fort Wayne Unveils New Sports Branding

Inside INdiana Business has announced that Purdue University Fort Wayne has unveiled a new look for its sports teams. The university says it will continue to use the Mastodon as its mascot, however a new logo and color scheme will be used to better match with the Purdue brand.

All of the men’s and women’s sports teams will be referred to as the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons. The new logo incorporates the traditional black and gold colors of Purdue, with a hint of blue as an homage to the previous IPFW brand.

“This is an exciting day for our university, for our student-athletes, and for Mastodons around the world,” said Ronald Elsenbaumer, chancellor of Purdue Fort Wayne. “Incorporating the internationally known Purdue name prominently into our athletics branding will add prestige and recognition to an already stellar athletics program.”

The rebranding will become official July 1, in conjunction with the official realignment and rebranding of the school to Purdue University Fort Wayne. However, the university says the gradual changing of logos and branding on campus has already begun.
