Inside INdiana Business is reporting that a Purdue University Board of Trustees committee has released what it calls “a new road map” for the future of undergraduate education at Purdue. The university says the road map is a framework for taking teaching and learning “to new levels of excellence” over the next decade.
The road map centers on five themes:
- Understand, support and value great teaching
- Create a hub for teaching and learning innovation, translation and scale-up
- Facilitate meaningful, flexible and cross-disciplinary curricula
- Leverage characteristics of a residential campus to increase engagement
- Close achievement gaps
“As higher education faces many headwinds, Purdue is looking to the future to build on our already strong foundation of undergraduate education,” said JoAnn Brouillette, chair of the Academic and Student Affairs Committee in a news release. “This visionary and proactive plan will help us manage the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead as we continue to work toward building the preeminent undergraduate program at an R1 institution over the next decade.”
The road map was developed through feedback from the Office of the Provost, the Purdue Teaching Academy and the associate deans for teaching and learning, as well as the input of faculty, staff and students.
