The Hoosier Heritage Quilt Guild presented the Boone County Sheriff’s Office with 63 fleece throws for the office to use for a variety of situations.
Members of the guild visited the Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday morning to unload the 63 blankets for the deputies to keep within their vehicles or distribute to those in need within the community for the upcoming winter months. Tony Harris, Boone County Sheriff, extended a statement of gratitude to the guild for the members’ hard work preparing the donation.
“Thank you so much for bringing the quilts to us (Wednesday) morning,” Harris wrote. “They will definitely be put to good use to those in need.”
Harris continued to thank the guild for its continued kindness and time spent supporting Boone County citizens through the donation. According to Sara Kub, Guild member, the entire guild was reponsible for collecting the fleeces that were presented to the Sheriff’s Office, and all fleeces were collected on Oct. 17 before being distributed to the office on Oct. 25. Donna Ballard, Guild member, expressed that the entire guild was grateful to utilize their skills to benefit the county.
“I’m so glad we could help them out,” Ballard wrote.
The Hoosier Heritage Quilt Guild will host its next monthly meeting on Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. in the community room of the Thorntown Library to discuss future projects, host a show-and-tell of quilts completed by members and discuss business for the Guild. The guild also hosts its monthly sewing day on the first Monday of every month.
