Raíces Festival Essay Contest Writing Workshop At Frankfort Community Public Library Kicks Off Wednesday, July 24; Essays Due Aug. 21

The Frankfort Community Public Library Teen Center announced that all high school students in Clinton County have been invited to participate in this year’s Raíces Festival essay contest for a chance to win a grand prize of $200.

Community members are welcomed to complete the essay at the Frankfort Community Public Library alongside Esmerelda Cruz on Wednesday, July 24 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at The Edge in the Teen Center at the library or by visiting myfcpl.com.

Two prompts will be available for selection for the contest, including “what contributions has Latin America made to the world,” and “what is a part of the Latin American culture that a person needs to experience to have a better understanding of this part of the world.”

Essays must be submitted in person or online by Aug. 21 at 5 p.m. for consideration in the contest.

The first place prize will be $200, the second place prize will be $100 and the third place prize will be $50. The prizes will be presented to the top three contestants on the evening of Sept. 21.
