Ramona H. Hinesley, 89, a life-long Crawfordsville resident, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at Wesley Manor Retirement Community. She was born April 25, 1929, in Webster, KY, to Austin J. and Jessie (Haynes) Hartley. In 1947, she married Joe E. Hinesley; he preceded her in death on August 18, 2017.
In 1947, Ramona graduated from Jefferson High School in Lafayette. She continued her education at Purdue University and received her bachelor’s degree in psychology. For many years, Ramona owned and operated the children’s shop, Kid’s Kloset, in Crawfordsville. She then owned and operated Indiana Court Reporting where she was a free lance court reporter. She was a past Township Trustee and Township Trustee Board member. Ramona was very active in the group Business and Professional Women, member of the First United Methodist Church in Crawfordsville where she had been a Sunday school teacher, was named a Master Gardener, and had enjoyed reading mysteries, most times two or three at once.
Surviving Ramona are her daughters, Sheila (Richard) Davis, of Evanston, IL, and Susan Hinesley, of Kokomo; sister, Rosemary Hartley Marschke, of Florida; and two granddaughters, Samantha Petry and Abbigail Petry Lane (Evan).
In addition to her husband, Ramona is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Juanita Poynter; and brother, Robert “Bob” Hartley.
A private inurnment will be held at later date in Oak Hill Cemetery in Crawfordsville. Arrangements are entrusted to Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel with online condolences directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
