Ray Brashier, 72, of Kirklin, passed away at his home on Monday, October 28, 2019. He was born August 26, 1947, in Fisk, Missouri. His parents, Cecil Leo Brashier and Virginia Moore preceded him in death. On September14, 1974, Ray married Janet Cowperthwaite in Las Vegas; she survives.
From 1965 to 1968, Ray served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, serving over 13 months on the front lines. After his service, he worked for Northrup Repair Craft in California. Throughout his life, he worked as a mechanic in maintenance for several bakeries and most recently for Bailey Trucking as a driver. A hard working man of faith, Ray was a member of the VFW and enjoyed playing pool, fishing, and taking camping trips especially in the mountains of California.
In addition to his wife, Ray is survived by his sons, Steve Ray (Lynn) Brashier, of Florida, and Scott Ray Brashier, of Southern California; daughters, Sheila Ray Brashier, of California, and Cyndi (Phil) Williams, of Kirklin; two sisters, Caroline Arlington, of Seattle, and Louise Snell, of Miss.; nine grandchildren, Jon, Hunter, Kirsten, Jeff, Josh, Isaiah, Jaime, Katie, and Tyler; and two great grandchildren, Benjamin and Lyndon.
Ray is also preceded in death by a son, Ron A. Bice; and sister, Marion Brinson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, 2019, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 11:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Mr. Dave Harness will officiate. Burial will follow in Scotland Cemetery near Kirklin, with military graveside honors by the Clinton County Honor Guard. Memorials in Ray’s name may be made to the donor’s charity of choice.
