Jada Ray and Jami Pratt were both named on the first ballot to fill vacancies in the office of Center Township Trustee and Center Township Board on Saturday in a special Republican Party Caucus held at Old Stoney in the City Council Chambers. The vacancies created by the resignations of Jan Conner and Michael Brooks.
Clinton County Republican Chairman Jim Moyer said they had four candidates for the two positions.
“We had two candidates who got the majority of the vote,” said Moyer. “Jada Ray and Jami Pratt will take over the position until December 31. Then, the winner of the election in November, will take it over on January 1.
Ray said she was very excited to get going.
“I’m ready to get to work and do anything (Center Township Trustee) Kevin (Evans) needs us to do,” said Ray. “I want to support the community and citizens of Frankfort. I’m just trying to give back to the community anyway I can.”
Pratt was asked why she ran for the position.
“I was involved more in the community when I was younger,” said Pratt. “As my kids get older, I want to get more involved again. I feel Kevin is doing a lot of good things right now. I hope to get involved more and make a change.”
Moyer said Center Township is the second largest group in the county with 20 precincts.
