RED BARN CELEBRATES MILESTONES AND RENOVATIONS

Article By Andi Slipher

In addition to recognizing two significant milestones, Frankfort’s On-Stage Foundation Board of Directors announced a fundraising campaign for much-needed renovations to the Red Barn Summer Theatre this coming year.

Founded in 1968 by Martin and Carol Ann Henderson, the Red Barn will celebrate its 58th season in 2026. Initially situated “on-stage” at Frankfort High School, in 1973, the Hendersons, assisted by a dedicated company of young, local actors, transformed a cattle barn into a theatre. By the time the Hendersons retired in 2016, the Red Barn had become a landmark that all of Frankfort and Clinton County could be proud of.

The Board of Directors also acknowledges the 10th season of Michael Taylor’s leadership. Taylor, a veteran member of the Red Barn company and drama teacher at Frankfort High School, assumed the role of Artistic Director of the Red Barn in 2017. Continuing in the founder’s footsteps was a challenge, but after a decade, the Barn has not only survived but is thriving. Today, the Red Barn is a beautiful and inviting venue that draws a growing audience from all over Central Indiana.

The On-Stage Foundation also announces a major fundraising campaign as the fifty-year-old plumbing has aged beyond repair, and the Barn’s restrooms need to be replaced before the 2026 season. Any individual or company interested in supporting the renovations with a tax-deductible donation can find more information at the Red Barn’s website at https:/redbarntheatre.net/donate
