Red Barn Summer Theatre Presents ‘The German Tropics’ Debuting Tonight, June 10

Jack and Ellie reunite

The Red Barn Summer Theatre in Frankfort is set to debut the world premiere of “The German Tropics,” a comedy by Red Barn Artistic Director Michael Taylor, tonight, June 10 to kick off its 58th season.

The show will open tonight, June 10 at 7:30 p.m. and will continue through Saturday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m. with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 14. The show will continue next week Wednesday through Sunday at the same times.

The German Tropics stands as the name of a quaint bread-and-breakfast on a small island just off the mainland. A young man, Jack, arrives at the venue for a planned getaway with his girlfriend, only to have his plans thwarted as a tropical storm hits landfall. Furthermore, as his boss and crazy ex-girlfriend brave the storm to visit the venue, his romantic plans turn to hilarious antics. Chaos ensues as a surprise visitor arrives on the island, bringing along two bumbling law enforcement officers who spur further antics.

Doors slam, identities are mistaken, and laughs are non-stop as the production sprints at a breathless and hilarious pace from beginning to end. With humor that appeals to all generations, the show proves to have widespread appeal for all audiences.

Dana and Stacy cannot get enough of the men arriving on the island!
