Red Barn Summer Theatre Announces 2021 Schedule

Artistic Director Michael J Taylor Thursday announced the line-up for the 2021 season at the Red Barn Summer Theatre.  The three shows will be “Who’s in Bed with The Butler?”, Neil Simon’s “The Odd Couple,” and the musical comedy, “The Marvelous Wonderettes.”

Butler” will open the season on June 9, followed by “The Odd Couple” on June 23.  “Wonderettes” will open on July 8 and close out the season on July 18.  The curtain will rise on all Wednesday through Saturday evening performances at 7:30 p.m., while Sunday and any additional matinees start at 2 p.m.

Community Outreach Manager Bethany Sheets, says “Due to socially distanced seating this year we are only admitting 85 people to attend each show; so, patrons should order their tickets as soon as they receive their ticket brochure.  The brochure will be mailed later this month. Tickets will be available on the website May 1 ([email protected]).”

Who’s in Bed with The Butler” by Michael Parker is a madcap farce that is not nearly as salacious as the title would imply.  When a billionaire passes away, his only child assumes she will inherit his estate.  When she arrives to claim her father’s mansion and fortune, she finds out otherwise—and the eccentric butler seems to be at the center of this screwball mystery.

The second show of the season is the classic comedy “The Odd Couple” by the legendary Neil Simon.  From Broadway success to movies and television shows Simon’s bickering roommates have entertained audiences for decade after decade.

The Off-Broadway hit musical comedy “The Marvelous Wonderettes” will close out the 2021 season.  The four-woman show is packed with humor and song as Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy and Suzy entertain classmates at the 1958 Prom.  This charming musical will delight audiences of all ages with renditions of “Stupid Cupid,” “It’s My Party,” and many, many more nostalgic hits.

Director Taylor says “After the past year of solitude, distance and stress I think people are ready to come out to the Barn where they can safely socialize while enjoying three plays that will keep everyone laughing.”

The Red Barn Summer Theatre is located at 2120 East County Road, 150 South in Frankfort, Indiana.  The theatre was founded by Martin and Carol Ann Henderson in 1968.  Theatre operations were moved to the Joe and Erma Maish farm in the summer of 1972.
