The On Stage Foundation and Red Barn Summer Theatre Artistic Director Michael Taylor has announced the shows for the 2023 season, sponsored by Bailey Trucking. The first show is the English comedy SEE HOW THEY RUN, the second show is BOEING BOEING and the musical will be CURTAINS, A MUSICAL COMEDY WHODUNIT. Performances run Wednesdays through Sundays from June 7th through July 16th.
SEE HOW THEY RUN tells the rollicking tale of a conservative English Bishop whose sedate home is turned upside-down by the outlandish actions of an American actor and actress, four men disguised as clergymen and an old maid who has touched alcohol for the first time. This classic comedy, written by Philip King, is full of fast-pace action and witty dialogue.
The French farce BOEING-BOEING takes place in a sixties apartment in Paris rented by a swinging American architect. Bernard, the American, is engaged to three women that he only keeps apart because they are all flight attendants for different airlines. When Bernard’s tight schedule is disrupted, his juggling act turns frantic and then–disastrous. Written by Marc Camoletti and translated by Beverly Cross, the second production of the summer is a delightful, fun-filled farce.
This year’s musical is CURTAINS, A MUSICAL COMEDY WHODUNIT, book by Rupert Holmes, Music & Lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb. CURTAINS will transport the Red Barn audience back to 1959 and the Colonial Theatre in Boston. On Opening Night, the lead actress falls dead and a fast-talking cop (who just happens to be a musical theatre aficionado is sent to investigate. With music by the duo who wrote Cabaret and Chicago, this riotous musical comedy will keep you laughing until the “curtain” falls.
Tickets for the first two shows are $20.00 for adults, $15.00 for students. Musical tickets are $25.00 for adults, $15.00 for students.
