Redevelopment Commission Adding Roofs Into Facade Grants

The Frankfort Redevelopment Commission approved making a big change in their facade grants Monday by adding roofs to the grant.

“We’ve never had roofs incorporated into the facade grants,” said RDC Chairman Joe Palmer. “Facade grants is where we usually do the fronts of buildings, make them look better with windows, doors and stuff like that. But we’ve had a couple of proposals in the past requesting if we would do roofs. The board’s thinking tonight was if it doesn’t have a good roof, there’s no need to putting the money into the front of it.”

Palmer also gave an update on Prairie Creek Park.

“They’re working hard over there,” Palmer said. “Right now, they are working on the stage area. They’re working over around the splash pad area. They’re working under the parking garage area.

“But, there’s going to be some things that they’re not going to get done this year,” he continued. “Landscaping will be pushed into the spring. The playground equipment probably won’t be put in until spring also.”
