Report: Two Sites to Split Amazon HQ2

Inside INdiana Business is reporting that citing a person familiar with the matter, The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) is planning to choose two locations for its second headquarters, splitting the investment and jobs between the two. Indianapolis is one of 20 finalists for the project.

The publication reports the e-commerce giant is making the move in hopes of having an easier time recruiting enough tech talent. Each facility would house 25,000 employees. Amazon has said the HQ2 project will come with a $5 billion investment.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the company has not made a final decision on the locations, but the publication reports Amazon is in late-stage discussions with Crystal City, Virginia, Dallas and New York City. The report suggests a decision could come as soon as this week.

Amazon first announced plans for HQ2 in 2017. Early this year, Indianapolis was named one of 20 finalists for the second corporate headquarters. Gary and Hammond had also submitted bids, but were not selected as finalists. The company says it pumped about $38 billion into Seattle’s economy between 2010 and 2016.
