David Hussey was named the new Frankfort City Council District 5 representative on the council following a vote of the Republican caucus Tuesday afternoon at Old Stoney.
Hussey won on the first ballot against his challengers Brant Fuller and J.J. Tate. Hussey will replace Wanda Mitchell, who resigned from the city council effective November 1, for the remainder of her term which is until the end of 2019.
“It’s a big responsibility and I don’t discount that,” said Hussey. “I look forward to the opportunity to serve.”
Clinton County Republican Chairman Jim Moyer was asked what Hussey brings to the council.
“The main and obvious thing is youth,” said Moyer. “David’s only 21 years old. I think he will connect very well with the younger people in the city. In addition to that, he’s a businessman. He owns and runs his own business. So, he’s got a lot of good business sense. I think he brings a lot in both his knowledge and his morals.”
Hussey has had some experience on other boards in the city and was asked if that will be of help to him.
“I do know that I’ve been very inquisitive about all the information that I’ve received sitting in the audience of the city council,” said Hussey. “I do a lot of homework as far as just educating myself as a citizen. I think that’ll help me more than any service I’ve done on any other board.”
