Richard W. Myers

Richard Wayne Myers, 77, of Lafayette Indiana died naturally surrounded by family October 6, 2024 at Saint Franciscan Hospital in Lafayette. He was born March 14, 1947 in Frankfort to Harold W. and Marjorie Juanita (Mullendore) Myers.

Richard was a 1965 graduate of Frankfort High School where he was a varsity athlete lettering in football and track. He later played on a semi-pro football team.

Richard enlisted into the Marine Corps in 1965 where he was an excellent marksman. He served as the head of data processing when he was stationed at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, CA and achieved a rank of Sergeant.

Richard loved to be active. He loved hiking, golfing, mushroom hunting, growing flowers and running the pool table. When he wasn’t being active, he enjoyed watching his favorite teams the Boilers, Da Bears and the Cubbies.

Richard was known to many as Hippie or Cheetah, but his favorite people called him dad and grandpa.

He is survived by his sons Milton (Jill) Anderson of Lafayette and George (Stephanie) Myers of West Lafayette, daughter Ashly (Cory) Dick of Lafayette; grandsons Phoenix Myers, R. Gavin Williams and Luke Anderson and a granddaughter Cheyenne (Jayson) Rainey; sisters Linda Hunsberger of Lafayette, Janet (Steve) Wichmanowski of Frankfort, Lisa (Brian) Pearson of Mesa, Arizona and several nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Leeta, his sister Marjorie L. Pridemore, his brother George S. Myers and niece Melissa Marie Wiersema.

Funeral Services:

 A memorial visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-12 Noon, October 19, 2024 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort.  Graveside services will be 1 p.m. October 19th at Elmwood Cemetery, Romney, Indiana.  Please visit goodwinfuneralhome.com, where you may leave a condolence.
