Rick Gunyon announced his intent to run for the Frankfort Common Council District 4 seat during the upcoming May 2027 primary.
Gunyon said “I hope to use my deep business expertise to help the City of Frankfort move into the future.” Gunyon is widely known as a detailed, hard-working individual who knows how to get things done. Gunyon’s impact on city, county, and regional initiatives over the past 20 years has been significant.
Gunyon has over 50 years of proven business results in senior management and technical positions within several world-class international corporations, where he identified and helped implement ‘best practices’ that transformed how each business operated.
The Frankfort Common Council selected Gunyon in 2014 to serve on the Frankfort Utility Service Board. Since then, Gunyon has identified and secured board support for numerous best practices. These initiatives have improved the safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of utility operations, while also enabling today’s public USB meetings to be live-streamed for at-home viewing.
Leading up to the May 2027 primary, Gunyon plans to hold listening events across the city to ensure he understands community needs and expectations. Gunyon explained that, “Once seated on the council, I will propose changes to how city government operates. These changes, which I refer to as ‘smart government,’ promise to improve transparency. This means the public will better understand decisions as they are being made during public meetings, and how public funds are being spent. Ultimately, these changes will help deliver the increased accountability our community deserves.”
Gunyon believes Frankfort city government should focus on three strategic pillars:
- Smart Government for the People.
- Needs-based Residential Growth.
- Targeted Economic Development.
Speaking to voters in Common Council District 4, Gunyon said, “I’m asking for your confidence, and for your vote. We can do better, and I believe we must. By working together and adopting best practices from the modern business world, Frankfort city government can better serve our residents, businesses, and industries as we move forward into the future.”
