Rick Scholl Named New Boys’ Basketball Coach at Frankfort High School

The Community Schools of Frankfort Board of Education on Tuesday night unanimously approved Rick Scholl as the new boys’ basketball coach at Frankfort High School.

Scholl was an assistant coach last year at FHS and also coached the junior varsity. He replaces Dave McCullough, who left after his lone year at the school for Connersville.

“It’s a good community, a great school and I love the administration,” said Scholl. “But, it’s the kids. We’ve got great kids here and I want build a positive relationship with the kids. That’s what it’s about for me.”

Scholl will be in his second year at the high school. In addition to his coaching duties, he also teaches engineering at the high school.

Scholl also has had varsity basketball coaching experience at Spring Valley and Rising Sun.

“I’m not the same coach when I started coaching at Spring Valley,” said Scholl. “When you’re young and everything is emotional like you’ve got to do this. It’s about setting goals and having high expectations.”

Superintendent Dr. Matt Rhoda was impressed when he first met Scholl a year ago.

“(Last  year) when I walked into the high school, he was so positive and he was excited about teaching,” said Rhoda. “I think he’s going to be a great role model for our boys and our program.”
