Road Paving Will Start Friday in City of Frankfort

Road paving in the City of Frankfort will officially begin Friday as crews from Rieth Riley will be paving St. Mary’s Avenue, according to Frankfort Street Superintendent Jason Forsythe.

“We got a call from Rieth Riley,” said Forsythe. “They had an open date in their calendar. Obviously, we were going to be milling on Monday anyway. They asked if they could get in and actually pave St. Mary’s. It won’t need to be milled. It’s a concrete roadway. They’ll come in on Friday and be done with it in a day.”

Next week, weather permitting, Forsythe said milling work will begin with actual road paving scheduled to start on Wednesday.

“The road we’ll be milling is Kelley Road from Alhambra to Jackson,” said Forsythe. “I believe they’ll stay pretty close in that area (for milling and paving). May 1 is the actual first date for paving, weather permitting.”

In other action, the Board of Works approved a bid Wednesday of $42,500 from Crenshaw Paving Inc. of Michigantown to pave the west lot of the Street Department.

The Board of Works also received two bids on the road paving project for South Columbia Street from Walnut to White. They elected to table their decision until the next Board of Works meeting on Wednesday, May 8.

The Board of Works also accepted a bid from Jim Michael Construction to begin work on the 50/50 sidewalk projects for 2019.
