Robert Alan “Bob” Gourley, 58, of Russiaville, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. He was born on August 5, 1966 in Lafayette to Larry Gourley and the late Carole (Decker) Gourley.
Bob graduated from Harrison High School, and then enlisted in the United States Army where he served honorably as an infantryman from 1985 to 1989. He worked for over 30 years doing customer relations and estimating for Kelly Group. He was married to his “Purple Princess”, Regena Miller, on September 10, 2011 in Russiaville, and she survives.
An accomplished musician, Bob lived and breathed guitar. Bob was a member of the Dukes of Haggard, Stampede, and Downtime bands. Whether playing for the Monticello Health Care Cottage residents where his mother previously resided, at a jam session in Kempton, at The Pickers in Logansport, or in one of his several bands, he was most happy with his guitar in his hands!
In addition to his wife, Regena Gourley, Bob is survived by his father, Larry Gourley; stepsons, John (Kacie) Lynch, Seth Smith, Jerryd Smith, and Joseph Klingerman; “special daughter”, Kristina Schidler; sister, Teresa (Jerry) Robertson; and brothers, Darrell (Cindy) Gourley and Tim Gourley. Bob also leaves several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews to cherish his memory.
In addition to his mother, Carole Gourley, Bob was preceded in death by his lifelong friend and bandmate, Rusty Stowers, and his Uncle Russell.
There will be a visitation held at Hippensteel Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 6th from 2-6 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 6.
